About
RURALHAUS Design Studio is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and offers comprehensive design services for a range of project scales.
Rurality, while underestimated, has qualities that are continuously sought after and highly emulated in many projects, and we saw the need for elevated versions of rural living in our local area and abroad. Taking into consideration aesthetic, purpose, function and local vernacular, RURALHAUS takes pride in creating projects that stand the test of time, no matter the location.
Principal Designer, Courtnie Knight, completed her education at SAIT Polytechnic with her diploma in Architectural Technologies in 2014. She then pursued her degree in Architecture + Visual Studies at the University of Toronto, earning her Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2017. After practicing under architects and interior designers in both Toronto, ON and Calgary, AB, she returned to her home province of Saskatchewan and founded RURALHAUS Design Studio.
Residential and commercial projects, both new and renovated, begin with an in-depth conversation to start the process of evolving a space into becoming the clients’ own. Every RURALHAUS project has a focus on functionality, heritage, and attention to detail in the simplicity and natural beauty of the materials and the context the project is set in.
